Our association with the defence services dates back to 1947 and we continue to support the “Make in India” efforts of the Government of India. We are one of the largest private sector suppliers to the government, fortifying and safeguarding India with a portfolio of armoured vehicles, land and naval systems, defence electronics and communication systems. India has the third largest armed forces in the world, and with INR 250 billion of investments earmarked for the next eight years, there is a growing need for technological upgrades and achieving economies of scale in the defence sector. It is a requirement that we at Mahindra seek to fulfill with honour and humility.
Axe
On the battlefield, staying nimble and agile can mean everything. That’s why the Mahindra Axe Light Strike Vehicle is equipped with a 140hp, four-cylinder diesel engine and a Mercedes-Benz transmission, for tenacity and high performance in the toughest situations. It’s a vehicle made for modern combat, and can be up-armoured to protect against 7.62mm ammunition.
Marksman
One of our most popular vehicles, the Marksman was built to protect paramilitary and police forces around the country. Armed and armoured to the teeth, the Marksman protects its occupants against a range of bullets; the undercarriage is built to withstand a hand-grenade blast; and it features a machine gun mount and seven firing crew ports. It is built with the latest technology, and even has a rear-view camera and LCD screen so the driver and co-driver have all-round vision.

Mine Protected Vehicle India
Indian armed and paramilitary forces can traverse confidently through the rough terrain of remote areas around the country in the MPVI. Equipped with a 230hp engine and a 6x6 transmission, the MPVI includes excellent ballistic and mine protection, and armour that blocks a range of bullets. Its high-tech, V-shaped, steel monocoque is built to direct the force of blasts away from the occupants.

Rakshak
From Jammu and Kashmir to the north-eastern states, New Delhi to Andhra Pradesh, Indian army, police and paramilitary forces use the Rakshak—as well as Guyana’s and Nepal’s paramilitary and security forces. The Rakshak provides heavy-duty shielding and can be equipped to provide 98 per cent underbelly protection from shrapnel grenades, as well as an optional light machine gun with a protective shield in the front.
Radar Systems
Mahindra Telephonics Integrated Systems Limited (MTISL) creates advanced radar systems for rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, ships, and ground-based systems around the world. These include the OceanEye—a highly reliable, lightweight, world-class maritime surveillance system used by the Indian Navy—and the RDR-1700B, designed to provide manned and unmanned aircraft an eye in the sky. We also offer search, rescue and weather systems like the RDR-1400 and RDR-1600—high-performance weather surveillance radars with compelling performance in extreme conditions—and the RDR-1700A, which aids search and rescue with a host of features, like a 20-target track-while-scan processor

Communication Systems
The advanced communication systems by MTISL provide uninterrupted contact between aircraft and ground control stations. Along with versatile systems like the Secure Digital Intercommunications system, we create systems that work in high-noise environments (STARCOM), work in highly volatile environments (TruLink Wireless Intercommunication System), and lightweight, low-power systems (NetCom-V Vehicle Intercommunication System).
Border Security Solutions
For border security forces (BSF), keeping citizens safe is a task that requires many tools. MTISL’s team of security specialists understand the requirements of the BSF, and offer perimeter, border surveillance and detection products to meet the same. Our Mobile Surveillance System is a stand-alone system, made for rapidly deployable surveillance, or to be networked together for a virtual fence. We’ve also created a Portable Surveillance System made for use at areas where lightweight systems are required—at borders, harbours and other critical infrastructure.

Identification Friend or Foe
The Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system from Mahindra Telephonics provides a breakthrough method of detection, identification, tracking and data extraction capabilities. IFF is utilised at airports, on aircraft carriers, surface vessels and other craft, and is engineered to perform in severe environments. The system meets all US and global specifications for its interrogator modes, performance, control, reporting and interfaces. Any production and support by Mahindra Telephonics of IFF systems for airborne, marine and/or ground applications in India shall be subject to receipt of US Government authorisations and shall be conducted under the applicable Indian and US regulations in force. Mahindra Telephonics is not authorised to offer or release IFF secure modes.

Mahindra Emirates Vehicle Armouring Fz LLC (MEVA) based in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, has a state-of-the-art production unit for full vehicle armouring solutions. We manufacture custom armoured vehicles for a variety of applications ranging from SUVs and MUVs, vans, buses, cash-in-transit vehicles and combat and tactical vehicles.

Contract Manufacturing
In partnership with Telephonics, MTISL creates built-to-print and built-to-specification products and systems. We manage a global supply chain from qualifying suppliers, placing orders, managing sub-contracts, monitoring vendors and inspecting sources. Our production lines are tailored to fit assembly and testing requirements, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality products.
Service Support
MTISL is dedicated to providing logistical support for all of our product lines, buttressed by Telephonics’ expertise in product life cycle management. We offer a broad range of flexible support services for our equipment, from complete spare systems to specific spare requirements, ensuring the adequate provisioning of spares and product-specific maintenance. At our repair overhaul facility, our skilled technicians provide technical assistance with state-of-the-art manufacturing and test equipment; similarly, our field support staff offer on-site installation, operating and diagnosing of equipment.
Training
We offer comprehensive training courses at either an on-site location or at our own facility. Using both formal and informal instructional settings, we combine classroom theory discussions with practical hands-on experience to ensure that our clients’ employees gain the knowledge necessary to perform operation and maintenance tasks thoroughly and confidently.

Defence Land Systems contributes to India’s national security, protecting our land and securing our borders. Combining our decades of experience with the latest technology, we have established a Special Military Vehicles facility near Faridabad, where we manufacture world-class military vehicles, select artillery systems and land-based weaponry at competitive costs.
Mahindra Defence Naval Systems
Mahindra Defence Naval Systems manufactures equipment that assists in securing India’s coastline. Catering primarily to the Indian Navy, the company’s high-tech facility in Pune manufactures a formidable range of defence-related components and sub-systems, weapon systems with associated electronics, and related armament systems. We are a AS-9100C, ISO 9001-2008, and ISO 27001 certified company.
Mahindra Defence Systems Limited
The Defence division of the Group specialises in manufacturing heavy-duty armoured vehicles to protect India’s armed and police forces, at both remote and urban locations across the country’s vast and variable landscape. We also supply armoured vehicles to other nations through the Ministry of Home and External Affairs, Government of India.

Our experience in manufacturing armoured vehicles is backed by a holistic approach in the design and engineering process. MEVA’s armoured vehicles are created for use in armed convoys and patrols, and the protection of VIPs.
Mahindra Telephonics Integrated Systems Limited
Established in April 2013, Mahindra Telephonics Integrated Systems Limited (MTISL) is a joint venture between Mahindra Defence Systems Limited and Telephonics Corporation. MTISL produces and supports selected Telephonics products such as radars, communication and surveillance systems, for the Indian aerospace, defence and civil sectors. This joint venture supports global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in discharging offset obligations to the Indian government.
